No. Inside a winning adset the ads work together, and the expensive ad is often the reason the cheap ones are cheap.

Picture an adset with one ad booking calls at seventy dollars and another booking them at three hundred. Most people see the three hundred dollar ad and kill it. What they do not understand is that the three hundred dollar ad is feeding the seventy dollar ad. It is part of the environment facebook built to get you those cheap calls. Turn it off and your winner can turn into a loser.

This is why you judge at the adset level first, not the ad level. If the adset is winning, do not touch the ads. Scale the adset. You only drop down to look at individual ads when the adset itself is not performing and you need to find what is dragging it.

The mistake comes from thinking each ad is its own little business. It is not. The adset is the unit. facebook is learning across all the ads inside it at once.
